It’s time for the Monkey Picks of 2012 playlist. There
are some notable omissions as I’ve only chosen songs available on Spotify which
rules out the year’s highlights from Kontiki Suite ("Music Man") and Jacco Gardner ("Clear The Air") and there
isn’t anything from Bob Dylan’s Tempest
album as I couldn’t find a way to shoehorn him in without upsetting the rhythm
of the sequencing (which was difficult enough as it was) or from Paul Weller’s Sonik Kicks as I wanted to keep it to 20
tracks and thought those interested would be familiar with “Green” already.
Kontiki Suite’s On Sunset Lake wins the Monkey Picks Album of the Year by a considerable
distance and should be purchased forthwith.

Hey, this is an awesome playlist. You have introduced me to a whole swag of new artists. I love it. And really well programmed, too.
ReplyDeleteJob done then! Cheers CJ, that's great to hear. Really appreciate the feedback. Any particular favourites?
ReplyDeleteGreat playlist Monkey. My faves are The Sufis and Tame Impala (just orderfed their album today). I'll buy Kontiki Suite's album when it gets released - checked on Amazon and the release has been put back another month.
ReplyDeleteNice one Ady. There's a great instrumental on the Sufis LP called "Lemming Circle Dance" which is my fave track on their LP but didn't fit on this playlist. The Kontiki Suite will be worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteStealing Sheep, Shrag and Jagwar Ma are my faves. I already loved The Lovely Eggs and Shrag remind me of them. Oh, and Beechwood Sparks make a great opener.
ReplyDeleteCatching up on my blog reading. Man, I dig these music picks! Really makes me want to explore more of these sounds.
